When it comes to mixing fuel for your McCulloch 3.7 chain saw, you have two options. The manufacturer recommends using McCulloch Two Cycle Custom Lubricant, an oil designed specifically for use in the 3.7 chain saw, at a ratio of 40:1 (40 parts gasoline to 1 part McCulloch Two Cycle Custom Lubricant). If you can’t find the MucCulloch oil, a high-quality SAE two-cycle oil can be used at a ratio of 20:1.

The type of gasoline used in the fuel mixture is very important to keep the engine running optimally. McCulloch recommends using regular-grade unleaded gasoline. Never use fuel additives, such as a fuel stabilizer, with this unit.

If you only plan to use your chain saw for a short amount of time, mix a small amount of 40:1 fuel by adding 1 gallon of gasoline to 3.2 ounces of McCulloch Two Cycle Custom Lubricant. If a larger amount of 40:1 fuel is needed, mix 5 gallons of gasoline to 16 ounces of lubricant. Mixing Instructions

How you mix the fuel is as important as using the right ingredients. McCulloch recommends making the fuel mixture by adding half the recommended amount of gasoline to a Department of Transportation-approved gas container, followed by the entire amount of oil for the desired ratio. Cap the gas can and shake vigorously till the gas and oil are thoroughly mixed. Add the other half of the gasoline, recap the gas can and finish mixing the contents. Use caution when removing the gas can’s cap because pressure can build inside the container from shaking.
